Join in the the Asian Heritage Street Celebration at Sunday Streets taking place on Sunday, May 6, 2018, from 11am-4pm!
CCC is proud to present the Asian Heritage Street Celebration, the largest API cultural gathering this year as part of "Building a Museum Without Walls" to expand our work to the Civic Center! This Year of the Dog marks the return of the Asian Heritage Street Celebration, which completed a twelve-year cycle, and took a hiatus in 2017. CCC is partnering with Sunday Streets SF, which has been reclaiming car-congested streets for community health by transforming them into temporary car-free spaces for all to enjoy since 2008.
Join Sunday Streets SF, the Chinese Culture Center of SF, the Asian Art Museum, other community partners, and your neighbors for this fun and free community event celebrating Asian Pacific American culture and community on Sunday, May 6 from 11am-4pm in the Tenderloin and Chinatown area.
Performers, artists, small businesses, nonprofits, sponsors, city agencies and community groups are invited to host activities, showcase their work, and provide information to the public.
Streets in San Francisco's Civic Center area will be closed to vehicle traffic to make room for a stage showcasing traditional and contemporary performances as well as many other activities, such as the Faces of Asia cultural procession featuring ethnic attire. The Asian Art Museum is also offering free admission on the day of. Chinese Culture Center's mission is to elevate underserved communities and is a voice for equality through education and contemporary art. "Building a Museum Without Walls" is an initiative to bring art to the community and activate public space.
