GROWING ROOTS
My flag design is about a floating existence. The small dandelion symbolizes me and my innocence before I came to the US. The seeds are my immigration, drifting without a sense of safety. I didn’t know where I would land, but I couldn’t go back to my own country.

The large, colorful dandelion is me after immigrating here and maturing. After 10 years here, and finding work and making friends, I see that the period of emptiness allowed me to become who I am today. Dandelions, though they are an ephemeral existence, eventually land and grow roots.

扎根
我畫的是一個飄渺的生命。小蒲公英象徵著我和我來美國之前的懵懂。風中的種子是我移民的過程，漂流不定，沒有安全感。我不知道自己會停靠在哪，又不能回國。

右邊的彩色大蒲公英是移民之後、日漸成熟的我。在這邊十年，有了自己的工作和朋友圈之後，我就發現，之前那一段空白其實造就了今天的我。蒲公英雖然很飄渺，但是始終還是會落地生根的。

RAÍCES DE CRECIMIENTO
El diseño de mi bandera se trata de una existencia flotante. El pequeño diente de león es un símbolo de mí y mi inocencia antes de venir a Estados Unidos. Las semillas son mi inmigración, a la deriva, sin una sensación de seguridad. No sabía a dónde iba a llegar, pero no pude regresar a mi país.

El diente de león grande y colorido también me representa, después de emigrar aquí y madurar. Después de estar aquí por 10 años, encontrar trabajo y hacer amigos, puedo ver que el periodo de vacío me permitió convertirme en la persona que soy hoy en día. Los dientes de león, aunque son una existencia efímera, eventualmente aterrizan y crecen raíces.
