Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco (CCC) is pleased to partner with UNTITLED Art Fair, San Francisco. Visit us at our booth featuring artworks by Bay Area artist Zheng Chongbin and public program by Collective Action Studio.
Zheng Chongbin was a XianRui (Fresh and Sharp) Artist, a CCC signature exhibition series that supports mid-career but underrecognized Chinese and Chinese diasporic artists through a major solo show of new work. Through the support of CCC and XianRui, many of the artists’ careers have grown exponentially, with international exhibitions, inclusion in major art fairs like Art Basel, and acquisitions by collections including the LACMA, Los Angeles, Asian Art Museum, San Francisco and the Met, New York. In late March 2018, CCC will host an exhibition reflecting on the 10-year anniversary of Xian Rui that invites back past featured artists including Zheng Chongbin. The newest artworks by Zheng Chongbin will be available for preview at the art fair UNTITLED, San Francisco. Representing CCC, Zheng’s works exemplify the institutional approach to supporting contemporary Chinese/Chinese diasporic artists through the distinctive curatorial insight as a non-profit organization anchored in the historical culture district San Francisco Chinatown.
Besides the booth inside of Palace of Fine Arts, CCC and Collective Action Studio (Tra Bouscaren, Fernanda D'Agostino, Justin Hoover, Jaleesa Johnston, Chris Treggiari) will present a site-specific video-mapping projection on the entry façade of the Palace of Fine Arts accompanied by a performance that integrates live video and public interaction. The video will consist of dancers and martial artists moving abstractly within a highly chromatic projection field. Currently, Hoover is in the process of a 10-week performance art project called Peace Movements in collaboration with the CCC and the Chinatown Community Development Center. Located at 41 Ross Alley, Hoover is hosting weekly movement workshops layered with evolving new media installations to serve as video development sessions. The video elements will integrate into this final presentation during Untitled Art Fairs, San Francisco.
Stay tuned for more details about the artworks that we will present and the public program by Collective Action Studio.
