ArtBuds is a unique way for families with young children ages 3-7 to learn about art!
At CCC, we believe it is never too early to introduce children to art in an interactive way that encourages their natural curiosity and sense of wonder. Furthermore, learning to be creative and forming an appreciation for the visual arts can strengthen skills introduced during early childhood, in preschool and kindergarten, in order to prepare them for more advanced classes. ArtBuds brings classes of preschoolers all throughout San Francisco to visit and participate in the arts program.
The visit to the Chinese Culture Center’s Visual Art Gallery introduces families to the current art exhibition. A childrens’ art docent will lead the entire family through the exhibition, and up to 30 minute art tour, to familiarize children with what they see and to introduce new art terms. We will walk through the gallery and talk about the different forms of art that we encounter and learn about art as a group. Following the tour, an arts specialist will guide parents and children through an engaging, hands-on art activity so parents and their children can make the art they see in the gallery together!
Join a Chinatown SF native tour guide to hike Chinatown’s hills and explore its back alleys to uncover this vibrant, historic neighborhood—from the oldest Taoist temple in America, an herbal pharmacy, the oldest continuously functioning civil rights organizations in the country, and the last handmade fortune cookie factory in the world! Enjoy inspiring tales of Chinese immigrants who came to America in search of opportunity and persevered through hardship and injustice to help create a better America.

About Chen Style Tai Chi
Chen Style Taijiquan is widely acknowledged as the oldest and the ancestor of all the other Taijiquan (Tai Chi) styles. Although it is characterized by low powerful stances, more obvious body coiling movements, stomping, and explosive releases of power that are mostly absent from the practice of other styles of Taijiquan, Chen Style Taijiquan can also be practiced with graceful, slow, and light movements. The martial aspects and health benefits are still preserved and retained within the Chen Taijiquan system.
